Hardware Board Availability for Compliant Implementations

While Hardware is not within the scope of GENIVI’s specification activities, we encourage developers and companies to create an environment where the GENIVI platform can be built, tested, and enhanced.  A number of organizations  have provided the below list of boards on which the GENIVI platform can be built and used.   GENIVI does not prefer or recommend a particular board listed below.  Our goal is simply to equip interested developers and companies with hardware options that can be used to test and use a GENIVI platform.

AXSB™ answers the question for an Automotive-Ready development platform to shorten time to market and demonstrate solutions extremely close to a series production system. Profit from the growing ecosystem around this solution, and support your development with a solid proven Reference Design.

The i.MX53 Quick Start Board (also known as “QSB”) is an open source development platform. Integrated with an ARM® Cortex™-A8 1 GHz processor, the Quick Start Board includes a display controller, hardware-accelerated graphics, 1080p video decode and 720p encode as well as numerous connectivity options ideally suited for application development for infotainment systems.

The Smart Application Blueprint for Rapid Engineering (SABRE) for automotive infotainment offers a solid foundation for next-generation converged telematics and infotainment platform designs. Based on i.MX 6 Series of applications processors, Freescale's most scalable implementation of the ARM® Cortex™-A9 CPU cores, with single-, dual- and quad-core offerings, processing speeds up to 1 GHz, and a high level of automotive-specific integration, the SABRE for automotive infotainment enables customers to rapidly deploy today’s consumer user experiences in the car.

The Freescale i.MX 6Quad SABRE Lite evaluation platform design is now available from multiple third parties such as Boundary Devices and element14.  These third party boards are excellent low-cost development platforms based on Freescale’s 1GHz quad core ARM® Cortex™-A9 processor and  enable cost-effective, rapid development of multimedia applications for infotainment systems that will also scale to Freescale’s pin compatible i.MX 6Dual, i.MX 6DualLite, and i.MX 6Solo families of processors.

Jetson is NVIDIA’s development platform lets you easily create and test automotive and computer-vision applications ranging from in-vehicle infotainment to advanced driver assist systems (ADAS).  It's packaged in a 1-DIN form factor, so it slides easily into the vehicle dash to simplify prototyping.

The latest Jetson powered with Tegra K1 brings HMI and visual computing in the vehicle to the next level.  Even compute-intensive video and image-processing applications, such as collision avoidance and pedestrian detection, can move from development to proof-of-concept to productization faster with NVIDIA Jetson.

As the world's largest automotive semiconductor company, Renesas enjoys experience across all automaker requirements: quality, safety, and security. Due to our lengthy experience in the automotive industry, we provide world class support and a fully scalable range of products. 46% of cars on the road have Renesas silicon on-board. With greater than 10 years' presence in Car Audio and Infotainment our advanced silicon engineering results in next generation, ARM based infotainment SoCs delivering the best price-performance and scalability in the industry.

For premium Infotainment the lineup starts with the current flagship R-Car H2 SoC powered by 4 Cortex-A15 and 4 Cortex-A7 (8 total cores) enabling big.LITTLETM flexibility. The R-Car M2 and E2 models scale to the mid-range and all the way down to a dual Cortex-A7 configuration for entry vehicles and display audio designs (i.e. Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto).

Maximum performance graphics, embedded automotive I/O such as CAN, MOST, USB3, Ethernet AVB, WiFi/BT, multimedia CODECs, multi-channel audio/video and DSPs are included. The wide range of solutions provide significant software reuse across IVI, Cockpit, and ADAS designs. ADAS specific starter kits include multiple visual computing interfaces and accelerators for prototyping next generation safety systems.

All of the current GENIVI Demo projects support the R-Car M2 Porter board. R-Car M2 consists of dual ARM Cortex™-A15 MPCore™ configured up to 1.5GHz per core. The full set of IVI interfaces are provided on GENIVI compliant reference boards suitable for immediate development.
