While Hardware is not within the scope of GENIVI’s specification activities, we encourage developers and companies to create an environment where the GENIVI platform can be built, tested, and enhanced.  A number of organizations  have provided the below list of boards on which the GENIVI platform can be built and used.   GENIVI does not prefer or recommend a particular board listed below.  Our goal is simply to equip interested developers and companies with hardware options that can be used to test and use a GENIVI platform.

The i.MX53 Quick Start Board (also known as “QSB”) is an open source development platform. Integrated with an ARM® Cortex™-A8 1 GHz processor, the Quick Start Board includes a display controller, hardware-accelerated graphics, 1080p video decode and 720p encode as well as numerous connectivity options ideally suited for application development for infotainment systems.

The Freescale i.MX 6Quad SABRE Lite evaluation platform design is now available from multiple third parties such as Boundary Devices and element14.  These third party boards are excellent low-cost development platforms based on Freescale’s 1GHz quad core ARM® Cortex™-A9 processor and  enable cost-effective, rapid development of multimedia applications for infotainment systems that will also scale to Freescale’s pin compatible i.MX 6Dual, i.MX 6DualLite, and i.MX 6Solo families of processors.

For development purposes Tizen IVI can be run on most Intel® Architecture processors. The Nexcom VTC-1010 is the preferred automotive platform for Tizen IVI.
